Leonhard von Call

Leonhard von Call (c 1779-1815) was an Austrian composer, very popular and productive in Vienna in the period c 1800-1815. He composed and published many works, especially chamber music for guitar and other instruments, as well as songs, string quartets, etc.

We publish his Serenade for flute, viola, and guitar, op. 66, a charming and easy work which is not available anywhere other than in Hebe, as far as I know.

Domingo Prat (Diccionario de Guitarristas, 1934) writes that von Call's compositions are very correct musically.

Many compositions by von Call are listed, for example, in Alexander Weinmann's Vollständiges Verlagsverzeichnis Senefelder-Steiner-Haslinger, I (München-Salzburg, Katzbichler, 1979). Thomas F. Heck (Mauro Giuliani, 1995, page 51) cites a book by Alois Mauerhofer: Leonhard von Call (Bozen, 1975).
