Fernando Sor: Arietts etc.

Songs in Italian, with the original piano accompaniments arranged for guitar by Rob MacKillop

All Sor's Italian Arietts, Duets, and the Three Canons have just (November 2002) been published by Tecla.  The Tecla edition contains them all with their original piano accompaniments.  However, it is known that Sor himself accompanied some of them on the guitar, so here on Hebe are being placed some of them with the original piano accompaniments arranged for guitar by Rob MacKillop.

It's interesting how well and naturally some of them fit the guitar, and it means that here is a whole new repertory for singers, both with piano from the Tecla printed book, and with guitar from here on the Hebe site.

So far in this series of arietts on Hebe are:

"Oh cara, da quel giorno primier", no. 3 in Sor's First Set of Italian Arietts, and
"La notte è placida", no. 1 in Sor's Second Set of Italian Arietts.

In each case the original piano accompaniment has been arranged for guitar by Rob MacKillop. Both are fine songs, and the accompaniments fit the guitar beautifully.
